How Punchmint works

Three short guides: one if you run the team, one if you are on it, and one if you want your AI assistant doing the clicking.

For employers

From zero to a locked pay period

  1. 1

    Create your organization

Company name and timezone. If you work shifts yourself, tick the box and you get a clock too; otherwise you land on a manager dashboard.
  2. 2

    Set your pay schedule once

Settings → Company: weekly, every two weeks, twice a month, or monthly. Pay periods create themselves from then on.
  3. 3

Invite your team and set rates

People → invite by email. Each person gets a page with their pay rate, documents, and kiosk PIN. Rates take effect on the date you pick.
  4. 4

    Let everyone punch

Phones, the web, or a shared tablet in kiosk mode (Settings → Kiosk devices, employees punch with a PIN).
  5. 5

    Close the period

Your team attests their hours, managers approve, and you lock from Period close. Anything odd is flagged for review first. After lock, Reports has the register and the export file for your payroll provider.

For employees

Your hours, your pay, no mystery

  1. 1

    Accept your invite

Click the email link, create a password (or use a sign-in link), and finish your profile: contact info, payment details, documents. Takes a few minutes.
  2. 2

    Clock in and out

The big button on your home screen. Breaks pause the clock. On a shared tablet at work, just enter your PIN.
  3. 3

    Check your timesheet

Every entry, by day, in your local time, with your period total and estimated gross if your employer shares your rate.
  4. 4

    Attest before payday

Before the period closes, review your hours and confirm they are right. If something is off, request a change with a reason; you can see exactly who approved what, and when.

For AI assistants

Connect Claude in one click

  1. 1

    Add the connector

In Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste https://punchmint.com/api/mcp.
  2. 2

    Approve the connection

Claude opens a Punchmint page. Click Allow. The connection gets exactly your permissions, nothing more: an employee’s assistant can clock them in but can never see anyone else’s pay.
  3. 3

    Just ask

“Clock me in.” “Who is working right now?” “How many hours do I have this period?” “Close out this pay period and flag anything weird.” “Prep my workers’ comp audit pack for last year.”
  4. 4

    Other assistants and integrations

ChatGPT and any MCP-compatible client connect the same way: add a custom connector or MCP server with the same URL and approve it once. For plain data pulls into spreadsheets or scripts, create an API token in Settings and call /api/export/hours or /api/export/register for clean JSON or CSV.
  5. 5

    Trust, then verify

Anything financial or irreversible (locking a period, changing pay) requires the assistant to confirm with you first, and every action lands in your audit log labeled as agent activity.
